Early Steaming May 3rd & 4th

In steam for two days, Crofton Beam Engines represent a remarkable feat of engineering from the early nineteenth century.

Your chance to see these historic engines working. They once played a significant role in the operation of the Kennet and Avon Canal, helping to supply water to the highest point of the canal network.

Craft Sessions

As well as steaming, there will be another chance to join in our duck race and join crafting sessions.

A special springtime trail will be available for children to complete and receive a prize for correct entries.

Engine House Open 10:30 – 16:00

Car Park Close – 17:00

Booking

You can either book online or buy your entrance ticket on the door. We will always have plenty of room for visitors.

Visitor Information

On steaming days only the “Smithy Tea Room” offers visitors light refreshments and delightful spot to relax during your exploration.

Visitors are also welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy overlooking the canal and railway. 

Access to the site is via the main gate opposite the car park or from the lower canal entrance at Lock 60 and up the steps.

Well behaved dogs on short leads are welcomed on site. Only assistance dogs are allowed in the buildings.
