Become a Friend of Crofton Beam Engines
Crofton Beam Engines is owned by The Kennet and Avon Canal Trust, and is managed and operated by the Trust’s Crofton Branch.
Although we cover some of our costs from entrance fees and donations, the ever-increasing cost of running the site means that we operate at an annual deficit which is currently met from Trust reserves. But those reserves are themselves under pressure, because of support for other projects along the canal.
So we need to increase our income, from visitors and donations, as well as seeking grants to cover major projects. We have therefore launched a ‘Friends of Crofton Beam Engines’ scheme. By joining the Trust as a Friend, your subscription and donation will be credited to Crofton, to be used to meet any deficit in running costs and support expansion of our activities.
As a Friend, you will enjoy free entry to the station on non-steaming days, and discounted entry on steaming and special event days. You will also receive every six months our ‘Follow the Steam’ newsletter by email, as well as copies of the Trust’s magazine The Butty. But even more important, you will know that you are helping to preserve our unique industrial heritage.
Your Donations
The minimum donation to become a Friend is £20 a year, but please consider donating monthly.
| £5 a month | Will buy enough coal to fire the boiler for an hour |
Donate £10 a month or more, and enjoy additional benefits after your first year’s membership:
| £10 a month | Two free steaming tickets |
| £20 a month | A personal guided tour for you and up to five guests on a non-steaming day |
| £50 a month | The opportunity to drive the engines (under supervision) |
