Looking Back – Crofton’s Victorian Themed Christmas – Event 2019

“An Evening of Victorian and Edwardian Entertainment”, a Magic Lantern and Phonograph Show presented by David Bayley of the Magic Lantern Society

This delightful festive-themed evening for all the family showcases authentic Victorian and Edwardian cinematography technology and projection techniques and is in two parts:

An exhibition by Market Lavington Museum of their collection of magic lanterns and phonographs

THE MAGIC LANTERN: Visit the 19th century through the lens of the Magic Lantern in colour which is both humorous and scary, and informative & thought provoking.

THE FABULOUS PHONOGRAPH: Voices of the past – on wax, a rare opportunity to hear Edison wax cylinders played in public including festive music and performances from the period
