Getting Crofton Ready for 2026 Season

During the winter months, Crofton volunteers undertake essential maintenance repairs to our Grade One listed industrial heritage site. Unfortunately the guttering on the corner of the Engine House had been loosened by recent high winds. Scaffolding to get to the guttering has to be very high, this is not a job for the faint hearted!

A complete section of new guttering was required along with new brackets, the whole to be painted and put into place. The roof has also had some work done and the ridge tiles have been fixed back in place. All repairs are scheduled to align with weather forecasts.

Repairs have also been made to our Smithy Tea Room fitting new barge boards. This type of maintenance work by our volunteers is slightly unusual but it all helps to keep Crofton standing for the future, which means visitors can continue learning about this wonderful Industrial Heritage site.
