Side Boiler House Wall Renovations
Winter works this week at Crofton Beam Engines saw the removal of panelling that was covering the back wall of the side boiler house.
This revealed the original brick work. The aim is to restore these walls back to their original period look. However the first task will be to remove any loose debris.

At the same time other volunteers worked outside. They began to make repairs to the same wall where it abuts to part of the leat. The leat carries the pumped water back to the canal summit.
By digging out bricks and adding a damp proof membrane. This should help prevent moisture being absorbed back through the bricks into the wall.
