Steaming Days in August & September 2021

Don’t miss the last steaming days of the season at Crofton!

At the July steaming, the Boulton and Watt engine challenged the Crofton Beam Team by developing a hitch. Even with the attention lavished by our volunteers, things don’t always go to plan! The engine was brought to a standstill, and visitors were treated to a display of steam billowing from the safety valve in the boiler house. Our ingenious volunteer team rose to the occasion, put the engine back into action and normal service was resumed for the rest of the day.

Crofton will steam again on Sunday 29 August & Bank Holiday Monday 30 August 2021

We will be open as usual on Saturday 28 August, but not in steam.

Please note that because of filming, closing times on Sunday 29 August are one hour earlier than on other steaming days.

End of Season Steaming Weekend – Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 September 2021

This is a beautiful time of year to explore the tow-path and countryside around Crofton. There’s just a hint of red appearing in the hedgerows along the route of the Roman Road.
